Rolex created the Oyster Perpetual Sea‑Dweller in 1967 to meet the challenges of long-duration underwater missions. Subsequently, Rolex worked closely with the professionals at Comex (Compagnie Maritime d’Expertises) to improve the watch, which is now water-resistant to a depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 feet). The Sea‑Dweller is designed for saturation diving.
